About Our

History

Jonathan Marroquin opened the doors to Team Valiants in 2019 as a way to give back to the community. His childhood was not easy, but he used lessons learned from his hardships to create a place where struggling kids can have an opportunity to grow. Team Valiants started off with only kids Jiu-Jitsu to give students a safe environment to focus on themselves. As time went on, it grew to become more than that. Valiant Academy was founded in 2023, with an already established competition team and began offering adult programs. Valiant Academy’s growth isn’t attributed solely to their catalog of programs though – it’s thanks to the unity and legacy they built from nothing. The Valiant community continues to thrive and make a statement: hard work creates champions with great character.

My daughter has been a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner since March 2021. Fast forward to Fall 2022, she began to actively compete. At competitions, we always saw Valiant Academy. I was intrigued by their dedication, support, and most importantly unity. My daughter too admired their close bond. We made the switch to Valiant Academy April 2023. Its been the best decision ever. Coach Jon is a kind man, amazing coach, and amazing leader. My daughter has built character and confidence, since being a part of Valiant Academy.

This gym has done wonders for my daughter and my nephew. Their level has gone up so high ever since we joined. The coach is very caring and loving, and teaches our kids a lot more than just Jiu-Jitsu/judo/wrestling… he teaches them about life and how to turn your pain into something positive. He teaches them to be the heroes of the stories, not the villains. I learn so much just from listening in on his classes. I too have started training as an adult and I love his ways of coaching and teaching some of the older guys 💯
